Sant Jordi is just around the corner and Barcelona's famous unfinished basilica, the Sagrada Família, is getting in the mood and preparing various activities to celebrate the day.

Falling on April 23, Sant Jordi is the feast day of the patron saint of Catalonia, and it is a day traditionally celebrated with books and roses gifted between loved ones.

Not only is the Gaudí temple raffling off 90 double passes for night tours, but everybody named Jordi, Jordina, or an international equivalent will be able to enter for free without booking on April 23.

Until April 18, people can enter the raffle for free to win one of 90 double passes for night-time tours on the eve of Sant Jordi – April 22. There will be three different time slots for people to enter the basilica between 8.30 pm and 9.15 pm. Winners will be notified by email if they are one of the lucky winners, and you can enter the draw here.

The following day, everybody that shares the name, or an international equivalent, of the patron saint will be able to enjoy the architectural masterpiece from the inside for free without having to book. On April 23, the Sagrada Familía will be open from 10.30 am to 7 pm. Click here to check various international equivalents of the names Jordi and Jordina.

This year the basilica is offering a tour/workshop called “The Temple of Light”, inviting vulnerable groups of society to discover and experience the Sagrada Família first-hand. The guided tour will give participants the chance to discover the importance of light and its meaning of hope, before offering an art workshop to create stained-glass windows inspired by the rose of Sant Jordi.

The tour/workshop will be held on 17 and 18 April with members of the Dona Kolors project.
