The Sagrada Família marked one of the highlights of its Holy Week program this Sunday, March 29, with the illumination of the Passion façade. According to organizers, 9,500 people attended the first two sessions of the music and lights show.

The week leading up to Easter commemorates the Passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

True to tradition, the basilica organizes a series of religious, cultural, and popular events to invite the public to engage with this liturgical season.

The sculptural ensemble has been transformed into a living narrative, revealing the symbolic meaning of the façade. The 12 scenes by sculptor Josep Maria Subirachs were illuminated and accompanied by texts written by Bishop Antoni Vadell.

Adults, families, young people, and tourists were immersed in the story of the final days of Christ's life. The 9pm Catalan-language session drew 5,000 attendees, while 4,500 people attended the Spanish-language session.

The façade was first illuminated this Palm Sunday, and the experience will continue on Monday and Tuesday. Shows alternate between Catalan and Spanish and are free to the public.
