PHOTOS: KETTAMA and Cabaret Voltaire bring generations of electronic music to Sónar
Speedy J leads an improvisation marathon with Colin Benders, Nadia Struiwigh, Reeko and VRIL

KETTAMA and Cabaret Voltaire shared the spotlight on the first night of Sónar 2026 on Thursday, in a program that brought two generations of electronic music face to face.
On the one hand, the legacy of the British group that pioneered industrial and experimental sound in the 70s, and on the other, the Irish producer KETTAMA, one of the prominent figures of the new rave scene and high-voltage techno.
Meanwhile, Dutch producer and DJ Speedy J turned Fira Gran Via into a live electronic creation laboratory with a collaborative session with Colin Benders, Nadia Struiwigh, Reeko and VRIL.
For more than five hours, the five artists built music in real time with synthesizers, drum machines and other devices in an improvised session without any script or repertoire.
The audience followed the jam session on a 360-degree stage.
The format, one of the highlights of this edition of the festival, will be extended over the three days with new combinations of artists each day.
Here are some of the best photos from the first day of Sónar 2026.
