Phenomena cinema to close September 15 for renovation works

The Phenomena Experience cinema will close from 15 September for renovation works.

The picture house plans to reopen in 2026 with a "new experience" on offer for movie fans.

"We have good news, we will reopen in 2026 like you can't even imagine," the cultural centre said in a statement. "A new experience for a new era."

The decision is made public the same week that the Phenomena will receive the Carlo Lizzani 2025 European Cinema Award, within the framework of the Venice Film Festival.

The distinction is awarded to projects that defend and promote auteur cinema with "tenacity and cultural vision," preserving the "community and ritual dimension of the cinema experience."
