Peter Jackson, Danny DeVito, and Amy Irving to receive Grand Honorary Prize at Sitges Film Festival

Peter Jackson, director of the 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' sagas, will receive the Grand Honorary Prize at this year's Sitges Film Festival.

Jackson will be one of the headliners to attend this year's edition of the festival, where he will present a 4K version of his film 'Braindead'.

Actors Danny DeVito and Amy Irving will also receive the recognition.

Meanwhile, the fantasy and horror film festival will open with Carlota Pereda's 'Found Alive', starring Chloë Grace Moretz, and that 'Wicker', with Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård, will close the festival.

Ángel Sala, director of the festival, recalled that he premiered 'Braindead' in Sitges in 1992 and it was "a party." Jackson now returns three decades later to celebrate a new 4k cut of the film.

"He is one of ours, and one of ours who has won a Hollywood Oscar, as has fortunately Guillermo del Toro and many others, increasingly," he said of Jackson.

The honorary award will also go to legendary actor, director, and producer, Danny DeVito, who in his long career played the legendary penguin in 'Batman Returns' by Tim Burton.

The festival will screen 'Matilda', a classic directed by DeVito. It will also present the film 'Drag' in the official section, which has DeVito as executive producer.

Amy Irving, actor in the 1976 'Carrie', will also receive the grand honorary award. As the festival's Sue Snell recalled, her character in Brian De Palma's classic "is not a secondary presence, but a decisive piece in the tragedy of Carrie White." Irving will be in Catalonia to present 'The Fury', also by De Palma, from 1978.

For their part, Robert Eggers, Yuen Woo-ping, Takashi Shimizu, Bob Murawski and Mark L. Lester will be recognized with the Time Machine Award.
