Junji Ito creates Manga Barcelona poster with popular characters in Park Güell
The Japanese mangaka will be the guest star for the December event, along with Pokémon card illustrator Oswaldo Kato

One of the most influential figures in contemporary horror manga, Junji Ito, will be the guest star of the 32nd edition of Manga Barcelona.
The event will take place from December 5 to 8 at the Fira Gran Via in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
The official poster for the event was revealed on Wednesday by its creator, Ito, at Casa Cupra Raval.
The poster depicts many of Ito's well known characters gathered in Gaudí's Park Güell.
Manga Barcelona's artistic director, Oriol Estrada, recalled that Ito "visited us 10 years ago," and since then his "popularity has increased exponentially."
Ito has done work with platforms such as Netflix and HBO, in addition to his various popular comic books.
Ito will serve as one of the international stars for the 32nd Manga Barcelona, and the Catalan Andrea Konata will be the local headliner. Trained at the Joso School of Comics and Visual Arts, the illustrator works for the magazine Planeta Manga and Manga Issho.
Another internationally recognized guest at the 32nd Manga Barcelona will be the illustrator of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Oswaldo Kato.
The convention will also host Shoji Kawamori, creator of the Macross universe and a key anime industry figure, Risa Ebata, designer and animator, and Yaya Han, one of the most influential figures in the cosplay world.
As well as manga and anime, Manga Barcelona will bring together some of the most prominent voices in the Japanese music scene, including ALI, Reol, and Lotus Juice.
In the months leading up to the event there will be new announcements about the program, and ticket sales are expected to begin at the end of July.
