Historic Barcelona metro trains restored to be exhibited from 10 November
Five carriages dating back to the 1950s will be installed for free public viewing in front of Glòries Square as part of the Metro centenary celebrations

Five historic carriages from the Barcelona Metro will be exhibited in front of Glòries Square from 10 November.
The free, open-air exhibition will feature carriages from the 100, 300, 400, 1100 and 3000 series.
Some of the models, such as the 400 series, entered service in 1958 and ran until the late 1980s, while the 1100 series operated from the early 1970s until the beginning of the 2000s.

The trains will be displayed on the esplanade in front of La Farinera del Clot, near Glòries Square.
Visitors will be able to explore the carriages both from the outside and inside, with full accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
Opening hours will be from Monday to Friday between 10am and 6pm, and from 10am to 7pm at weekends.

The five carriages have undergone a "complex" restoration, the president of Barcelona's Metropolitan Transport Authority (TMB), Laia Bonet, told the media on Wednesday as the first two carriages were installed.
"The restoration work, which began intensively last year, has been a great effort, and today we are proud to present five carriages that together represent almost the entire history of the metro," she said.

The restoration mainly involved cleaning the interiors and exteriors, repairing floors, frames, windows, doors and side panels, as well as restoring the lighting, driver’s cab, and applying new external paint and vinyls.
"We have invested more than €2 million, a significant amount that reflects the scale of the project, but I believe it has been worth it, as there is no better way to celebrate the metro’s centenary," Bonet added.
The exhibition, titled "Trains of the Centenary: The Railway Heritage of the Barcelona Metro," will remain open until 6 January.
