Barcelona's annual celebration of theater, dance, and music, Festival Grec, will be back this summer from June 29 to July 27.

Maskless and Covid restriction-free for the first time in two years, the "symbol of resistance of culture and life," in the words of mayor Ada Colau, will see Catalan and international artists put on 86 performances in 55 different venues – including historic ones, such as the El Molino cabaret on Paral·lel avenue – as well as over 50 activities.

The prestigious Nederlands Dans Theatre – NDT 1 group will kick off the 46th edition of the festival with three innovative choreographies: 'How to cope with a sunset when the horizon has been dismantled', 'Bedroom Folk', and 'One Flat Thing, reproduced.'

Other highlights include Catalan pop-rock band Els Pets, Je t'aime moi non plus singer and actor Jane Birkin, or an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet performed by a Peruvian theater company of actors with Down's syndrome.

There will also be an open-air cinema and concerts in Montjuïc castle's dry moat, such as Los Stompers signing Irish folk songs before 'Belfast' on July 4 or Los Carosones playing Italian swing and mambo ahead of a 'Call Me by Your Name' screening on July 13.

Tickets, including a €15 flat rate for people under the age of 30 and various discounts, are on sale online.
