Barcelona will host the most international edition of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week yet, despite ongoing geopolitical instability affecting global travel.

Organizers say nearly 420 brands will take part this year, with 87% coming from outside Spain, the highest share in the event's history. Still, flight disruptions linked to tensions in the Middle East have forced a strategic pivot toward European markets.

Event director Albasarí Caro said the fair has worked to reroute buyers who were scheduled to travel through Dubai and provide logistical support to maximize attendance

"We reacted in time to ensure a significant influx of visitors; we have the resilience and can navigate through the difficulties," she said.

While Asia remains an important long-term market, this year's edition will prioritize visitors from Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, as well as the United States and Brazil.

Caro also pointed to a record attendance of American buyers, even as brands navigate tariffs introduced under Donald Trump.

Despite the adjustments, organizers describe the overall outlook as optimistic, with confidence the show will proceed smoothly.

The event will run April 18-22 at Fira de Barcelona's Montjuïc venue and will feature more than 1,000 designs from 34 designers during its runway segment. About 60% of those designers are international.

Spanish labels like Yolancris and Isabel Sanchís will share the stage with global names including Peter Langner and Demetrios.

The show will present a wide range of brands, from Spain's Marco&María to international labels like Maggie Sottero and Justin Alexander, alongside couture houses such as Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad.

Charity initiative

This year, the gala Barcelona Bridal Night celebrates its 10th anniversary, featuring French designer Stéphane Rolland, who will present his first runway show in Spain.

In collaboration with local design schools, students will also debut original creations under Rolland's mentorship.

The designer will also support the Kàlida Foundation by donating sketches for a charity sale, with proceeds benefiting care programs at Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona.
