The number of Covid-19 patients in Catalonia requiring ICU care could peak next week at 700, according to health minister Josep Maria Argimon.

Speaking to the Parliament's Public Health Committee, he also said that he believed hospitalizations would reach their highest point of the fifth wave this week.

This comes as new daily infections continue to decrease — 4,971 on Tuesday — while hospitalizations are on the rise.

Covid in Catalonia

As of July 27, 2021, official figures, released daily on this website, state there have been 888,008 confirmed Covid-19 cases (PCR tests and others including antibody tests).

4,966,137 residents have been given the first dose of the vaccine, 63% of the total population. Out of those, 3,918,512 have also been administered a second dose (49.9% of the total population). 4,393,685 residents are considered to be fully immunized (55.8%).
