'It was a forbidden political activity': ex-Catalan police official on indy referendum

The Catalan police official responsible for planning and security at the time of the 2017 independence referendum, Emili Quevedo, has told Spain's Supreme Court that the law enforcement body "didn't like some of the remarks" by the then-interior minister Joaquim Forn. "He said that] Catalan police would act on October 1 as in any normal election," recalled Quevedo, adding that "we couldn't treat it like a normal election, because it was a forbidden political activity."
