08-Jul-20: 'Fines of €100 for not wearing face masks from Thursday'

<p>Catalonia will fine people 100 euros for not wearing face masks starting on Thursday, even in spaces where safety distances can be guaranteed, such as here on Passeig Colom.</p> <p dir="ltr"><span>From tomorrow, people over 6 years old will be required to wear face masks on the street and in indoor spaces open to the public. Catalan authorities will exclude activities that are not compatible with face masks, such as sports and children&rsquo;s summer camps.</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span>The county of Segri&agrave; needs at least 70 extra health workers to face the surge in coronavirus infections, say authorities. Under lockdown since last weekend, the city of Lleida is demanding tighter measures to fight the spread of the virus.</span></p> <p dir="ltr"><span><span id="docs-internal-guid-d4c19616-7fff-5767-af06-36fa136c9304"><span>SEAT will invest 5 billion euros to develop electric cars in Catalonia.
