The ACAVe travel agency association is forecasting a "good" summer season for the sector despite the impact of the war in Iran on tourism, particularly for destinations in the Middle East or flights with layovers in the region.

"The intention to travel is not being lost," ACAVe president Rafa Serra said on Thursday.

While the group anticipates only "minimal" cancellations linked to the conflict, it is advising travelers to book flights and vacation packages "as soon as possible" in case airlines introduce "small tactical adjustments" to routes involving the Middle East.

The outlook comes as airlines warn that jet fuel prices have surged amid the conflict, adding cost pressure across the industry.

Serra sought to reassure the industry and consumers, downplaying the broader impact of the conflict.

ACAVe vice president Jordi Viñolas noted that travel agencies have already seen "a rebound" in demand following the Easter holiday period.

The association expects interest to continue rising through May and June, months it says "will define the rest of the season."

Viñolas added that greater stability in the Middle East would further support travel demand. "If there is more certainty tied to a de-escalation of tensions, there will be more reasons for people to travel normally," he said.

According to ACAVe, data from operators at Barcelona's El Prat Airport supports this optimistic outlook.

Airlines are increasing seat capacity by 7.6% compared to last summer, signaling "greater available supply" and suggesting that trips "can be booked as usual."
