The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair will connect Barcelona with four new destinations during the winter season. Cork (Ireland), Trieste (Italy), Gdansk (Poland), and Ouarzazate (Morocco). These are the new routes available from Barcelona El Prat airport from November to March.

During the season, as announced on Thursday morning, Ryanair will increase the frequencies on 15 destinations compared to last winter. This is a 9% growth in the company's activity in the Catalan capital airport, below the Spanish average of 15%.

Ryanair will offer 3.7 million plane tickets between November and the end of March.

Girona: new potential

One of the other main destinations in Catalonia for Ryanair passengers is Girona-Costa Brava airport, in the north of the territory.

While there were no planes based during winter in such infrastructure last year, the airline will deploy two airplanes that will be part of the 42 weekly flights scheduled to nine different destinations between November and March.

Last season, Ryanair only offered ten weekly flights to four destinations, and therefore, there is a 70% growth in activity, as Elena Cabrera, head of Ryanair in Spain, said during a press conference on Thursday in Girona.

The board of directors believes Girona has potential, which could be the future for offering more destinations.
