Record-breaking October at Barcelona airport with 5.2 million passengers
Airport could close the year with 58 million passengers, exceeding its theoretical maximum capacity of 55 million users

Barcelona airport recorded another month of record figures in October, according to data released on Friday by the airport operator Aena.
The airport handled 5,243,506 passengers during the month, a 5.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
From January to October, passenger numbers rose by 4.3% year-on-year, reaching nearly 50 million travelers.
In October, commercial passengers grew by almost 6%, while international traffic increased by 7%.
If the airport continues setting records in the coming months, it could close the year with an unprecedented 58 million passengers, exceeding its theoretical maximum capacity of 55 million users.
Barcelona Airport remains the second-busiest in Aena’s network, behind Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas, which handled 6 million passengers in October.
