The Semaf union has announced a strike by Ouigo train drivers on Thursday, June 26.

The stoppage is planned to last the entire day, from 00:01 to 23:59, according to a statement released by workers' representatives.

In addition, there will be partial strikes on four other days: June 12, 13, 23, and 27.

The union says the protests will directly affect the 40 daily services operated by the company, which carries over 22,000 passengers.

It also notes that “almost all” of Ouigo's roughly 100 drivers are affiliated with Semaf.

French low-cost operator Ouigo currently operates routes connecting Barcelona with Zaragoza and Madrid.

On June 12 and 13 (Thursday and Friday), stoppages are scheduled from 6:30am to 1:00pm and from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

On Monday, June 23 (the eve of Sant Joan), the strike will run from 6:45am to 1:25pm and from 3:30pm to 6:30pm.

On Friday, June 27, the stoppages will be from 6:30am to 1:15pm and from 3:45pm to 7:00pm.

Ouigo will become the first private company in the transport sector to hold a strike.

Semaf says it is calling the action in defense of jobs and in protest “against breaches” of the collective bargaining agreement.
