Ouigo launches high-speed train route connecting Barcelona and Seville
French rail operator to connect both cities with daily journeys from December 14

The French low-cost rail operator, Ouigo, has launched a direct high-speed train route between Barcelona and Seville on Wednesday at an event in the Old Quarter Palau Dalmases in the Catalan capital.
Journeys will commence on December 14, with ticket prices going on sale on Thursday, October 23, starting at €9.
The train departs daily from Sants station at 07:35 and arrives in Seville around six hours later, at 14:50. Another train leaves the Andalusian capital at 17:00 and arrives in the Catalan city at 23:00.
The train will stop in Zaragoza, Madrid, and Córdoba. "The stop in Madrid will have an added value, and if ticket sales confirm our forecasts, we do not rule out adding more direct trips," Hélène Valenzuela, CEO of Ouigo España, said during the announcement.
With this route, "we prove that there are no routes too long for the high-speed train market," she said, adding that the "main winners of the liberalization are residents."
Ouigo started operating in Spain in 2021, after the high-speed market was liberalized, with a route connecting Barcelona and Madrid. It was in May 2021, just a few days after the state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic was lifted in Spain.
Since operations started, Ouigo España has moved around 20 million travelers, half of whom had Catalonia as an origin or destination.
The new route between Barcelona and Seville will offer 7,000 weekly seats between both cities, and around 360,000 per year.
