Inflation in Catalonia drops to 1.8% in May, the lowest since September
Spain's inflation rate falls to 2% and reaches the European Central Bank's target

Inflation in Catalonia fell to 1.8% in May, marking the lowest rate since September of last year.
This is down from 2.1% in April and represents the third consecutive month of decline in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which stood at 3.1% in February.
The decrease in inflation was largely driven by lower prices for tourism packages, which had risen significantly during the same month in 2024.
Electricity prices also contributed to the slowdown, increasing less sharply than they did a year ago.
Other categories that contributed to the drop in inflation were leisure and culture, which increased by only 0.9%, compared to 3.5% the previous month.
Restaurants and hotels, housing and utilities, and transportation also saw more moderate price increases.
The biggest price increases were seen in tobacco and alcoholic beverages.
Meanwhile, food prices increased by 0.8 percentage points compared to April, with slight increases in the prices of items such as fruit, milk, eggs and coffee.
Spain's inflation drops to 2%
Across Spain, the overall inflation rate stood at 2% in May, two-tenths of a percentage point lower than in April.
Core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, also fell by two-tenths, reaching 2.2%.
With these latest figures, Spain's inflation rate has now aligned with the European Central Bank’s target of 2% year-on-year growth.
