Ikea to open first large store in Girona
Swedish company to also open collection point in Vilablareix

The Swedish furniture company, Ikea, will open its first large store in Girona, after opening a small store in the city center in 2021.
The 1,470 square meter store will be at 61 Astúries Street, in front of Leroy Merlin.
In addition to the new store, Ikea will open a new collection point in Vilablareix, south of Girona, at the Ciuriana de Güell street.
According to a company statement, the Catalan market is a "strategic place. "
In the new facilities, Ikea will offer thousands of products and personalized interior design and planning proposals. This will force the company to move its studio from Joan Maragall Street to the new site. There will also be a restaurant open to customers.

The large site will be located in Avellaneda in Girona, and will see a €5 million investment with around 60 workers. The company expects the 14 people working in Girona's collection point and the planning studio to be moved to the new site next to Leroy Merlin.
Ikea's head of market in Catalonia, Valerio Valentí, states that Girona's central store welcomed 35,000 customers last year.
The Swedish company currently has five stores in Catalonia: three are large stores in Badalona, L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, and Sabadell, while the other two are city center stores in Barcelona's Diagonal Avenue and Glòries Mall.
