Foreign investment in Catalonia halves during first six months of 2023 to €824m

Lowest figure recorded in a first semester since 2014

The foreign investment in Catalonia during the first semester of 2023 was €824.71 million, a figure which represents 54% less than the first six months of last year, according to data released by the Spanish industry ministry on Wednesday.

Comparing the second quarter to last year's figures, the drop is 67%, as between April and June 2022, the foreign investment in Catalonia was €1.13 billion, and during the second quarter of this year was €372.9 million.

The figure recorded during the first six months is the lowest one registered on foreign investment in Catalonia since the first semester of 2014. Back then, authorities recorded €512.8 million.
