Claude ambassador says Barcelona can be ‘San Francisco of Europe thanks to tech and AI'

From September 21-24, Barcelona is hosting the first European gathering for Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, bringing together 15 European Anthropic ambassadors and an expected 2,000 attendees.

Held as part of AI Week Barcelona, ​​the Claude Community House Barcelona event takes place in the 22@ district to discuss the potential of artificial intelligence and how it is transforming the way people work, create and make decisions. 

"There are over 50 free sessions scheduled and they are open to anyone, featuring Claude ambassadors from across Europe and the United States," Jérémie Benhamou said, a Claude ambassador.

The four day event will offer workshops, hands-on sessions, demonstration, and discussions for professionals, developers, entrepreneurs, companies and anyone interested in AI. 

"Barcelona can become the San Francisco of Europe thanks to tech and AI," Benhamou said, who is also CEO of Tech Nation, an AI transformation consultancy and agency founded in Barcelona in 2024. 

"The city possesses the quality of life, cutting-edge companies, professionals and exceptional universities to make this a reality," Benhamou said. "AI Week Barcelona will help the Catalan capital take another step toward becoming a leading tech hub in Europe, and even globally."

"Claude is currently one of the most widely used language models in the world, alongside ChatGPT," said the Tech Nation founder, noting that Claude offers various interfaces such as Chat, Cowork, and Code. 

"We will be discussing the latter at length this week," Benhamou said. "It is a tool accessible to everyone and literally requires only an hour of training."

"By using natural language, it allows anyone to build and program," specified the Claude ambassador. "For instance, we built this four-day, 2,000-person event in Barcelona in just one month thanks to Claude Code."

"AI doesn't help with carrying chairs and boxes yet, but it certainly helps with many other things," Benhamou said. 

"A technological revolution"

"I believe that with artificial intelligence, we are facing a technological revolution, but also a cognitive one," the founder of Tech Nation said. 

"Revolutions like writing took centuries, the internet took years, but with AI, we are talking about changes happening every month, week, or even day," Benhamou said, who avoided taking a stance on the need to regulate AI. 

"It’s not really my place to weigh in on that, though I am an optimist," stated the Claude ambassador. "Fire can be used for cooking and light, but it can also burn and kill. The same applies to AI."

"Depending on whose hands it is in, it can be good or bad," Benhamou said. "Everyone is talking right now about how AI will kill us all in 10 years." 

"I don't know if that will come true, but I do know the current advantages of artificial intelligence, and there are many," Benhamou said. "And all you need is a computer, a bit of curiosity, a desire to learn, and about 20 euros a month."
