Cava makers concerned over Trump's new trade measures
Sector calls for strengthening trade with India, China, and South Africa

The Association of Cava Producers (AECAVA) is monitoring the trade measures announced by Donald Trump's administration with concern.
Maria del Mar Torres, the association's director, says the cava industry adapted to earlier tariff policies under Trump with "resilience," and now faces yet another unpredictable scenario.
She points out, however, that while the United States remains a strategic market, cava has a long history of exporting to more than 120 countries, giving the sector a broad international base.
She says that agreements between importers and cava producers have helped mitigate the effects so far. As such, Torres advocates continuing to diversify international markets and strengthen regions with growth potential, such as India, China, and South Africa.
She also emphasizes that ongoing commercial dialogue between blocs could help steer the situation in a more positive direction, highlighting the historic trade relationship between Spain and the United States, particularly for cava.
Torres is confident that the current challenges can be resolved through "constructive dialogue and strong leadership."
