Catalonia and Barcelona hailed as top foreign investment strategies

Catalonia and Barcelona have been named for the second year in a row the territory and the city in Europe with the best strategy to attract foreign investment, according to fDI Magazine of the Financial Times group. 

Catalonia ties with the region of Ile-de-France and is ahead of the Madrid region and Scotland, while Barcelona stands ahead of other major cities such as Berlin and London. 

The fDi Magazine, which publishes stories about global investments, distinguished the Catalan capital for its commitment to technology and sustainability. The Financial Times group publication also highlights the council's bid for companies to invest in solar energy and the first green hydrogen plant in Spain. 

It also praised the city for its 'Plaça Barcelona' initiative which uses virtual reality to promote the city and facilitate tasks such as job hunting. 

Meanwhile, Catalonia is in the top category of regions for its adherence to sustainable development objectives and its digital transformation. The magazine also pointed out the attraction that Catalonia has in its 12 universities and their engineering degrees.
