Catalan hotels welcome record 2.2m guests in September, but overnight stays dip
More than 1.5 million visitors came from abroad, with around 713,000 from within Spain

Catalan hotels continue to break records in 2025, recording their best-ever September in terms of number of guests, according to figures published by Spain's National Statistics Institute (INE) on Tuesday.
Hotels across Catalonia welcomed 2,232,441 guests, a 3.87% increase compared with September last year (2,149,212).
Overnight stays, however, fell slightly by 0.24%, to a total of 6,633,863.

Room prices in Catalonia remained virtually unchanged from last year (+0.0%), marking the most moderate trend in Spain, in contrast to sharp increases in the Balearic Islands (+8.5%) and the Spanish average (+5.5%).
Guest numbers were 18% lower than in August, reflecting the end of the peak summer season.
Of the total, more than 1.5 million were international visitors, while around 713,000 were residents of Spain.

Catalonia has now logged six consecutive months of record-breaking results for hotel guests, with 2025 marking historic highs in every month except March.
In total, between January and September, hotels in Catalonia have welcomed 15.7 million guests.
