Catalan exports hit record €100.8 billion in 2025
Exports climb 0.6% despite US tariff uncertainty, while imports grow 3.3%

Catalan exports reached a record €100.8 billion in 2025, up 0.6% from the previous year, according to figures published on Thursday by the Spain's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business.
Despite uncertainty surrounding US tariffs under Donald Trump, exports exceeded €100 billion for the third consecutive year.
Imports totaled €114.4 billion, an increase of 3.3%, leaving Catalonia with a trade deficit of €13.6 billion for the year.
For the month of December, exports reached €7.56 billion, down 1.4%, while imports rose 0.8% to €8.44 billion.
Catalonia accounts for 26% of Spain's total exports.
Shift toward Asian markets
According to ACCIÓ, the Catalan government's trade and investment agency, exports to the United States fell by 3.4% in 2025.
However, companies stepped up diversification efforts, with exports rising to South Korea (+25.2%), China (+13.7%), and India (+4.4%).
ACCIÓ attributes overall export growth in 2025 to a shift toward Asia (+7.6%), Africa (+12.5%), and the Middle East (+15.3%).
By contrast, sales declined to Latin America (-14%) and North America (-2.2%), while exports to the European Union remained broadly stable (+0.8%).
Semi-manufactured goods accounted for more than one-third of total export turnover last year (€35.3 billion).
Capital goods – including machinery, industrial installations, plants, and tools – represented around 16% of sales, as did food and beverages.
The automotive sector accounted for 13.2% of exports (€13.4 billion).
