Catalan exports grow by 5% in March, reaching €9.25 billion
Imports down by 2% year-on-year, with €10.35 billion worth of purchases made

Catalan exports grew by 5.2% year-on-year in March, with sales abroad worth €9.256 billion, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise.
On the other hand, imports to Catalonia fell by 1.9% compared to last year, with €10.351 billion in purchases made during March.
The main exporting sector is chemical products, with €2.52 billion of sales in the third month of the year, down by 5.3% year-on-year.
Capital goods saw a significant annual increase during the month, with sales abroad worth €1.68 billion, up by 14%.
Exports from the automotive sector grew by 11%, with sales totalling €1.359 billion.
In the first quarter as a whole, the chemical products sector has fallen by €10.4 million year-on-year, the food and beverage and tobacco sector by 6%, while capital goods have grown by 9.2%.
By region, the drop of almost 5% in exports to the Asian continent stands out, with €784.4 million in turnover, while sales to the American continent are strengthening, with sales to the United States seeing growth of close to 28% in March compared to last year, with €519.7 million worth of goods sold.
Most Catalan exports are sold within the EU, and March saw sales to this market grow by 5.2%, the same as the general exports figure.
