Catalan exports exceed €9bn in May
Exports up 1.9% on last year, reaching second highest May total on record

Catalan exports reached over €9 billion in May, an increase of 1.9% year-on-year.
The total of €9.074 billion was the second-highest amount in May on record, behind €9.2 billion in 2024.
Imports rose 15% year-on-year to €11.2338 billion, leaving a trade balance at -€2.159 billion.
This is higher than May of last year when the figure was -€800 million.
Exports from Catalonia remained mostly within the European Union, accounting for 61.1% of foreign sales in May.
Exports to France were the highest, at €1.329 billion, 4.7% less than 2025.
Though exports to France fell, they increased to the other leading countries, with exports to Germany increasing by 2.5%, Italy by 2.2% and Portugal by 2.2%.
Exports to the United States increased by 25.8% in May 2025.
The main exports coming out of Catalonia were chemicals, capital goods, automobiles, and food, beverages and tobacco.
