Catalan economy grew by 2.7% in 2025
Growth slows compared to 2024 but remains above EU average

According to an early estimate by the Institute of Statistics of Catalonia (Idescat) Catalonia’s economy grew by 2.7% in 2025.
In the last quarter of the year, GDP increased by 0.9% compared to the previous quarter.
Compared to the same period the year before, it rose by 2.4%.
Catalonia’s growth was slightly lower than Spain’s, which grew by 2.8%.
Additionally, it was well above the European Union average of 1.6%. Catalonia’s economy also grew more than Germany’s (0.3%), France’s (0.9%), and Italy’s (0.7%).
The 2.7% growth rate is lower than in 2024, when the economy grew by 3.6%.
Industry growth slowed to 1.8%, down from 3.9% seen in 2024.
Services continued to expand, rising by 3%, although at a slightly slower pace than the year before.
Construction was the standout performer, with growth accelerating to 5.3%, a sharp increase from 1.7% in 2024.
Agriculture also performed well, growing by 7.2%, compared to 4.2% the previous year.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, the economy grew by 2.4% compared to the same quarter in 2024.
This was slightly lower than the 2.5% growth in the previous quarter.
