Cruise ship passengers arriving at the Port of Barcelona increased by 10% in the first ten months of the year compared to the same period last year.

According to official figures, from January to October the port handled more than 3.56 million cruise passengers. Of these, just over 2 million visited the city, while the rest remained in transit.

Total passenger traffic at the port, including ferries, rose by nearly 8%, reaching 5.2 million people.

Car traffic also increased significantly, by 4.6%, due to a rise in imports, which grew by 35.6%.

Meanwhile, container traffic fell by 4.4% as a result of route adjustments made by major shipping companies.

The markets with the largest increases in traffic were India (up nearly 15%) and South Korea (up 11%).

Notable growth was also recorded with China (up 5%) and Saudi Arabia (up nearly 5%).
