The Josep Tarradellas Barcelona El Prat airport broke a new record during 2025 after registering 57,483,036 passengers, 4.4% more than the previous year, according to data released on Tuesday by Spain's airports manager AENA.

In December, the airport saw 4,308,427 travelers, around 5.8% more than in the same month the previous year.

"Considering these figures, and until the expansion is not fully completed, the airport's growth will be led by the use of the still available flying slots, named as 'off-peak hours', as well as for breaking the seasonality of the trips," a statement from AENA reads.

In fact, 2025's growth has already been focused on these hours that still have available slots for airlines.

During 2025, 43,256,689 passengers flew international, around 6.2% more than in 2024, while 14,127,522 flew domestic, a 0.6% reduction on 2024 figures.

In December, 3,230,032 flew internationally, an increase of 9.1%, while 1,068,727 flew domestically, a drop of 3.2%.

Throughout the whole year, the airport managed 360,786 operations, setting a new record.
