Apple is looking to hire over 20 artificial intelligence (AI) professionals in Barcelona.

The company is hoping to cover positions such as annotation analyst, language engineers in several languages (such as German, French, Dutch, Portuguese, and Swedish), or machine learning engineer, as listed on their website with undisclosed salaries.

The tech giant's Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) department in Spain is mostly located in Barcelona and has doubled in size between September 2020 and 2021, making the office Apple's biggest AIML department in continental Europe.

Elisenda Bou-Balust, the company's head of media knowledge and a senior engineer, said in a statement: "We are continuing to invest in Spain and to expand our team. Thanks to the excellent local talent, we are building a first-class engineering team in Barcelona."

She is now one of the people in charge of hiring. "At Apple you have the opportunity to work alongside the best professionals in the sector in an inclusive and diverse environment."

Office on iconic Passeig de Gràcia boulevard

Because AIML continues to grow, Apple opened a new office in downtown Barcelona last December, on the iconic Passeig de Gràcia boulevard, opposite Apple offices on the same street.

The new offices are located in Casa Pascual i Pons, two buildings next to one other that were built in 1890 by famous architect Enric Sagnier and are considered to be part of the city's heritage – Idealista, a real estate website, revealed in June 2020 that the company was renting 6,000m2 worth of office space there from insurance company Catalana Occident, which had spent €35 million renovating it. Apple also contributed to its restoration.
