18-Apr-24: 'Catalonia's desalination plant plans to combat severe drought'
The Catalan government will install a floating desalination plant off the coast of Barcelona and purchase 12 mobile desalination units for the Costa Brava to combat the severe drought. The floating desalination plant will produce the equivalent of 6% of the water consumed in the Barcelona metropolitan area in a year. It is expected to be operational in October. An extra 12 small mobile desalination units will be installed in the northern Costa Brava coast.
