One of the 157 fatal victims in the Ethiopian airplane accident was from Catalonia, according to Catalan News Agency (ACN) sources at the foreign affairs department.

The Boeing 737 jet crashed a few minutes after take-off from Addis Ababa on Sunday morning, killing everyone on board, including two Spaniards.

A local newspaper has reported that the victim is a 46-year-old former resident of Granollers, near Barcelona metro area, who was travelling to Nairobi for professional reasons.

Although the cause of the accident is still unknown, Ethiopian Airlines has suspended its use of the Boeing model "as an additional security measure".

Investigators recovered the flight recorders from the crash site on Monday morning.
