Spain's inflation increased to 3.3% during April, as announced on Monday by Spain's National Statistics Institue (INE) in a preliminary report.

This is an increase of 0.1% in comparison to March, the increase is "mainly" linked to the rise in gas prices and food, and "to a lesser extent" to electricity prices according to the INE.

Price on unprocessed food and energy products has decreased with four tenths since March, currently landing at 2.9%.

Consumer prices have also increased by 0.7% since March, making the Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA) stand at 3.4%, one tenth above March while the expectation was a 0.6% increase.

The INE will publish the definitive figures for April on May 14.
