Hit Catalan-language film ‘Alcarràs’ is one step closer to - possibly - winning an Oscar after being selected by Spain to vie for Best International Feature Film.
The movie tells the story of farmers in western Catalonia and will find out if it has been shortlisted in the coming months. Director Carla Simón already made history when her tribute to rural life became the first Catalan-language film to win the prestigious Berlinale Golden Bear.
Prices in Catalonia in August were 10.2% higher than a year ago. While just barely below the July figure, inflation is at its second-highest level since at least 2002 due to the soaring cost of electricity, fuel, and food.
