Private vehicles not including motorcycles will not be allowed on Montjuïc hill, where the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium that FC Barcelona will be using this season is located, under three hours before matches start unless they have a special pass.

Because of this, the club presented a new mobility plan on Friday to facilitate access to the stadium while the Spotify Camp Nou undergoes improvement works.

For the first match at the Olympic Stadium next Tuesday, on August 8, and the following home games this season, supporters are encouraged to go by foot, use public transport, or bike to the stadium.

Barça and the Barcelona city council mobility plan intends to make to make transportation more sustainable by increasing requency on the L1, L2, L3, L8 and L10 Sud metro and FGC train lines.

Most Blaugranes driving to the match will have to park at the Fira de l'Hospitalet venue beside the shuttle buses that will be taking fans to the stadium two hours before games and an hour and a half after them. These will be able to take up to 4,400 people to the 55,926-person capacity stadium per hour.

There will also be shuttle buses from Plaça Espanya square to the Olympic Stadium, which will be available for free to ticket-holders. The square is only 10 to 20 minutes from the stadium depending on the means of transport chosen to get there.

Around the stadium, 3,500 motorcycle parking spaces will be available, as will bicycle parking stations that will be built along a new bike lane that will go from Plaça Espanya to Miramar Avenue.

These changes will cost €5,899,100, of which €3,321,100 will be paid by FC Barcelona and €2,578,000 by the Barcelona city council.

"We consider this to be a very important effort of the club to ensure maximum comfort to all members and fans," the director of FC Barcelona's Sustainability Area, Jordi Portabella, said.

"The surrounding neighborhoods will not have to take on more pressure," added Xavier Patón, who works for the council's mobility planning department. Parking spots in the nearby Can Clos and el Polvorí neighborhoods will only be available for residents whenever there is a game.

Only men's games will take place at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium as the women's team will most likely continue to take place at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.

End of an era: Dismantling FC Barcelona's Camp Nou

Camp Nou, a site under construction

Back in June, works began to renovate FC Barcelona's iconic Spotify Camp Nou stadium

This will be a years-long process, and at the moment, the plan is to return to Camp Nou in November 2024 at 50% capacity.

Works on the rest of the stadium are expected to be completed by around 2026.
