Moto GP has returned to Catalonia, and as well as bringing all the high-octane thrill of the race, local hotels in the area of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya are fully booked.

“The hotels are at 100% capacity from Thursday night until Sunday,” when the event is taking place, according to Enric Gisbert, a spokesman for the Vallés Oriental Hotel Association, of the county where the event is taking place. He highlighted that many in the area are already full.

In addition, Gisbert explained that he was happy that Moto GP will continue in the region, just to the north of Barcelona, until 2021, when the current contract finishes.

"The fact that last year a contract was signed with Dorna - the organizer of the World Motorcycling Championship - from five years until 2021 helps us to be calmer,” he said, adding that “the only thing that is missing is Formula 1.”

Gisbert explained that he was "delighted" with the good figures that Catalonia’s Moto GP Grand brings the region and how the “local and regional economy” benefit from these sporting events.
