Barcelona (FCB).- At a stage when the top flight clubs are drawn against the lower league sides in the Spanish cup there is always a risk of an upset, but the Blaugrana used all their experience to ensure that they would not become the victims against their Segunda B hosts. Two goals within the first 30 minutes meant that Barça were in control and were able to enjoy the game.

Early goals

Coach Pep Guardiola chose a starting team that included many players who have not had many chancs to impress so far this term, with three youngsters standing out. Despite the changes the team looked confident and strong and went in search of the win straight from the off. It took just quarter of an hour for the breakthrough to come as Maxwell was picked out with a pass by Bojan Krkic and the Brazilian beat the keeper. In minute 25 it was 0-2 as Maxwell turned provider as he found Pedro and the forward tucked in the second goal of the night.

Strong display

Marc Bartra and Andreu Fontàs were given the responsibility of forming the Blaugrana's central defensive duo and the B team starlets shone as they stayed strong in the face of everything that Ceuta could muster. In the middle of the pitch Seydou Keita and Javier Mascherano ran things for the visitors while Barça looked good going forward, with the focus being on playing down the flanks. The margin of victory could have been even higher had Bojan not seen his shot rebound back off the woodwork in the 27th minute. The only negative note from the opening leg was a shoulder injury sustained by Jeffren.

Continued control

After the break Guardiola's team did not lower their guard and continued to dominate proceedings with Bojan, in particular, leading the line well. Ceuta showed more ambition and looked to move forward, but they were unable to find a way back into the game. Bojan had yet another chance to add to Barça's tally when he found himself with just the keeper to beat, but was unable to score.
