FC Barcelona to play friendly with Hamburger SV on July 24

Barcelona (ACN).– FC Barcelona will play SV Hamburg on occasion of the German outfit’s 125th anniversary at 18.00 on July 24th. It will be the first Barça game of the 2012/13 preseason, and therefore also the first for Tito Vilanova in charge of the first team. The second game of the preseason will played in Tangiers (Morocco) on July 28th, four days after the first game in Hamburg. FC Barcelona will also be putting together a series of social events in association to the match. Further details relating to this game will be announced on Wednesday.


The Catalan and the German teams will play at the Imtech Arena, a FIFA 5-star stadium, built in 2001 with the capacity for 57,000 spectators and one of the venues used at the 2006 World Cup. Hamburger SV is one of the most historic clubs in Germany, founded way back in 1887 and winner of seven Bundesliga titles and the European Cup, won in 1983. In 2011/12, they finished 15th in the Bundesliga with 8 wins, 12 draws and 14 draws. Their top scorer was Croatian international Mladen Petric, with seven goals.
