Catalan mid-fielder Cesc Fàbregas will not for FC Barcelona this coming season. Arsenal has rejected two formal offers by Barça and the player has finally decided to stay, avoiding a confrontation with the English club. The player, who admitted in a statement that he found the idea of signing up for Barça “attractive,” has finally decided that he will not be able to play in his native country yet. Despite the player’s wishes, Arsenal's manager, Arsene Wenger, did not want to sell his captain to Barcelona.

“I am a professional and I fully understand that it is Arsenal's prerogative not to sell me,” Fàbregas said in the statement. The Catalan player joined Arsenal as a 16 year-old and became the captain with Wenger’s support. Conscious that his fate is not entirely in his hands, Fábregas finally decided to stay. He said that he will be working with Arsenal 100%.

However, it is not difficult to conclude that Barça is still in his heart, and that the Catalan club will try to sign him up again next summer. “This [Barça] was the club where I learned my football. It is my home town, where my friends and family are and a club I have always dreamed of playing for,” Fàbregas confessed.
