The snowboarder, Queralt Castellet, one of three Catalans participating in this year’s Winter Olympics, has made it through to the finals in the halfpipe category.

Having come fifth in the second qualification round, competing against 24 other participants, Castellet will take part in the final in the South Korean city of Pyeongchang at 2AM CET on Tuesday.

She completed two runs on the halfpipe, scored by 6 judges on her ability and skill. Her best score was 71.50.

The 26 year old competed in her first Olympic games back in 2006 where she finished in 26th place. She has taken part in all other Winter Olympics games, but never won a medal, so her hopes are high for a place on the podium. However, the stakes are high and the competition is tough. The other four participants who came before her all achieved at least 10 points each more than the Catalan rider.

Twelve finalists will battle it out on the slopes for bronze, silver, or gold, with three rounds on the halfpipe each to prove their worth, giving her three chances for Olympic glory, as her best performance will determine whether she gets a place in the top three. No Catalan has ever made it on the podium before in the Winter Olympics.
