The Dutch trekker who was lost in the Pyrenees is found dead

A 52-year-old Dutch man went missing last night while trekking near Espot in the Catalan Pyrenees. Catalan fire fighters have found his dead body this afternoon.

Espot (CNA).- At 16:50 this afternoon, fire-fighters of the Catalan Government found the dead body of the Dutch man who went missing yesterday near Espot, in the Catalan Pyrenees. The man had gone trekking. Yesterday night at 22:15, the warning that he had disappeared in the mountains was received. 4 ground units of fire fighters were activated, as well as a canine one. This morning, the search was intensified with more units involved. There have been no explanations regarding his death yet.
From this morning, a total of 7 ground units of the Catalan Government’s fire fighters, as well as an air unit and 2 trained dogs of the same organisation, were participating in the search. In addition, the specialised unit of Mountain Rescuing of the Catalan Police participated from this morning, joined by a regular unit of the same organisation.

The man disappeared near Espot, in the Western Catalan Pyrenees, a winter sky zone with high mountains. The search was performed near the Josep Maria Blanc shelter. This morning, the search was enlarged to the path going to the shelter and the side of the Peguera River. The causes of death have not yet been clarified.
