Catalan police Mossos d'Esquadra have arrested a person responsible for the indiscriminate assault of at least twelve women at the Camp de l'Arpa metro station in Barcelona.

The incident unfolded on Friday morning when the attacker entered the platform and began unprovoked attacks on the victims, as shown in a video widely shared on social media.

One of the victims, a woman, suffered serious injuries, authorities confirmed. Police are investigating the possibility of other assaulted victims.

So far, only one victim has come forward to file a complaint. In a post in X, the Mossos encouraged any other potential victims to come forward and share their accounts.

The Hate Crimes Unit has taken control of the investigation to determine if the attack qualifies as a gender-based hate crime.

In the viral footage, the attacker is seen entering the platform, walking past seated commuters and attacking several women.
