The Norwegian Pearl cruise ship, operated by the Cruise Norwegian company, has been forced to dock in the Port of Barcelona after a technical breakdown that has left 2,500 passengers without their holiday.

The technical problem has also forced the company to cancel other services that was due to set sail this Friday from Greek islands and Rome.

In a statement, the company announced that it will return 50% of the price of the cruise to the passengers affected by the breakdown, and will offer them a 50% discount for future trips.

In addition, the company is offering stranded holiday-makers 300 euros each to buy flights. On social networks, several of the affected have criticized the treatment from the company, and consider the information they were given and the compensation insufficient.

For the passengers that were supposed to be on the planned cruises sailing from the Greek islands and Italy, 100% of the price paid will be returned.
