Catalan police, the Mossos d'Esquadra, have designed an interactive map with more than 8,250 old explosives found in Catalonia since 2012.

The new tool links the artefacts to the period they date from, including the War of the Spanish Succession, the Carlist Wars, the Peninsular War during the Napoleonic Wars, and the Spanish Civil War

Among the items that stand out are twelve Civil War-era hand grenades. They were discovered hidden in the false ceiling of a home in Castellbisbal, outside Barcelona. The building was use by the anarchist CNT in 1939, with the weapons presumably abandoned as Franco's forces advanced.

In the Ebre River, firefighters found 436 artefacts from the Battle of the Ebre, the longest and largest battle of the Spanish Civil War

Unveiling the map on Tuesday, police warned found items can still pose a risk.
