The Catalan Government has extended the suspension of camping, the limitation of leisure activities in forested areas, and the restrictions of agricultural activity in 279 different municipalities until Wednesday midnight.

This includes summer camps of all kinds that are located in rural areas as well as sports activities that take place in nature.

Access to natural spaces in these areas are also limited: the Albera, the Montigrí, the Montsant, and the Cap de Creus Natural Park are included in the measures.

Moreover, in the affected municipalities, transport in forested areas and work on non-essential power lines have also been suspended, as well as maintenance and works on infrastructure and roads except as indicated by transit authorities.

Although weather conditions have improved compared to previous days, vegetation has been severely affected by the heatwave seen over the last week.

Additionally, the arrival of winds could heighten the risk of wildfires further. If a fire does break out, it could spread much faster as a result of these winds and thus complicate attempts to control it.
