Barcelona's Metro Line 2 to remain closed between the 4th and 24th of August

Barcelona's Metro L2 will be affected by renovation work from next Monday the 4th of August till Sunday the 24th of August. The stretch between Passeig de Gràcia and Clot metro stations will be closed due to the improvement of the railway's mechanical condition. According to the Catalan Ministry of Planning and Sustainability, the partial suspension of the metro service was planned for this August in order to minimise disruptions to travellers, since during this period the demand for urban mobility is lower. However, during the closure of the affected L2 stretch, other public transport alternatives will be provided to customers.

Barcelona (ACN).– Barcelona's Metro L2 will be affected by renovation work from next Monday the 4th of August till Sunday the 24th of August. The rest of the L2 line and metro network will work normally.

Barcelona's L2 Metro Line, which is known as "the purple one", will be affected from August the 4th to the 24th due to construction work in order to improve the mechanical conditions of the railway between Passeig de Gràcia and Clot stations, which is the central part of the line. However, travellers should not be worried since there will be other public transport alternatives offered. For longer journeys between the two sections of the line, the connection to the L1 Metro Line (the red one) is recommended since it links with the L2 line in the Clot and Universitat metro stations. Another alternative is the connection between the L2 line and the L4 line (the yellow one) in La Pau and Passeig de Gràcia metro stations. In addition, several regular bus lines (H12, V21, 7, 33, 34, 50 and 62) will offer routes that coincide, in part, with the affected Metro line route. Likewise, people may use the Metro Lines L3 (green), L4 (yellow) and the Rodalies short-distance train network to get to Passeig de Gràcia, and the blue L5 Metro Line in order to get to the Sagrada Familia station.
