Traffic accidents on Catalan roads resulted in 152 deaths in 2023, according to figures published by the Catalan Interior Ministry on the first day of the year.

The figures show a reduction of five fatalities compared to 2022 and a 13% reduction compared to 2019, the benchmark year for meeting accident reduction targets.

Vulnerable road users, namely motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists, account for almost half of the fatalities (46.3%), with 53 motorcyclists, 12 pedestrians and 4 cyclists losing their lives in 2023.

The AP-7 was again the most deadly road, with 15 fatalities.
