Susana Beltrán, MP for Ciutadans until the Catalan Parliament was dissolved by the Spanish government, said that her party wants to have “neutral schools without any political ideology”. In an interview with Catalan News, Beltrán said that should Ciutadans take power following the December 21 elections, the party will move to reaching these kinds of learning environments in Catalonia because, according to them, schools are currently "indoctrinating" children.

Her party has indeed accused Catalan schools of indoctrination, on several occasions. On Thursday, the Spanish Parliament is likely to pass a law backed only by Ciutadans and Spain’s Ruling People’s Party (PP), aimed at guaranteeing “ideological neutrality” in schools. Most political parties in Catalonia, as well as school trade unions, defend the current system and deny any wrongdoing.
