The Catalan president Quim Torra linked the struggle to stop the rise of the far right in Europe and in Spain with that of social and civic rights and self-determination in Catalonia.

In an official visit to the Terra Alta County, Torra spoke of his concern for far-right parties breaking into institutional politics, especially following Vox gaining seats in Andalusia and the latest polls carried out in Spain.

The Catalan president also criticized Spanish president Pedro Sánchez over the issue of the jailed and exiled Catalan leaders, as well as that of Catalonia’s self-determination. Inasmuch, he called on Sánchez to submit specific proposals.

"We feel absolutely supportive and concerned about this increase of the far right in Spain. But for us, the fight against fascism and the far right is inseparable from the freedom of Catalonia, of our country. Everything is together, proclaimed the Catalan president.
